Morgan Davis' History of the Blues
Date(s):November 12, 2010
Time:8:00pm - 11:00am
Details:An incredible night of the Blues that you won't want to miss! This is one history lesson that will entertain, educate and make you laugh. Morgan Davis is a Blues institution, with a JUNO for "Blues Album of the Year" in 2004 and a slew of other awards over the course of his lengthy career. Using music from his personal collection, interspersed with commentary and anecdotes along with audience participation, Morgan takes folks on a journey spanning two continents and 80 years of recorded Blues. From African music to the "field hollers" of the southern U.S., from Mississippi to Chicago... from Georgia to Texas, Morgan illustrates regional styles as well as influences and interpretations from one artist to another, often using recorded snippets along with his own guitar.

This intimate show requires front section seating and there are only 50 table seats and 11 bar seats available, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Ticket sales are restricted to those reserving seats for dinner before the show. Tickets are $10 each and must be purchased prior to the event. Reserve your seats by sending an email to manager@roadsidewillies.ca.

Special Details:A word about Morgan Davis' History of the Blues. "This workshop is EXCEPTIONAL and our audiences loved it. Morgan brings along his encyclopedic knowledge of blues history and his enchanting story-telling, but I found myself fascinated by his mix of old pieces of music and his own stellar playing. I knew this workshop would have appeal for our audiences but I couldn't have guessed how many times, while sitting and listening, that I would find myself lost in the mystique and legends of the blues. Morgan makes the deep history of our music fun and real - this is a workshop we'll be having back here at Harvest again."
